A Journey from the Gridiron to Guiding Faith

When you first meet Stockar McDougle, his warm demeanor and genuine compassion are immediately evident. Known among his peers as a big guy with an even bigger heart, Stockar has transitioned from a celebrated NFL offensive lineman to a devoted philanthropist and community leader.

Early Years and NFL Career

Stockar’s journey began at Deerfield Beach High School in Florida, where he was named the Sun-Sentinel Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. His talent on the field led him to Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas, where he switched from defensive to offensive lineman, becoming a JUCO All-American. His prowess on the field continued at the University of Oklahoma, culminating in being a first-round pick (20th overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2000 NFL Draft. Throughout his professional career, Stockar was known for his resilience and leadership, epitomized by his 32 consecutive game starts and his role in setting a franchise record for the fewest sacks allowed in a season with the Lions.

Philanthropy and Community Service

Beyond the field, Stockar has been a pillar of support to his community. Through Firstability, formerly known as the McDougle Family Foundation, he has supported numerous youth initiatives—from scholarships and athletic camps to global mission trips and local partnerships in education and athletics. His commitment extends to his role on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters and his active participation in charity fundraisers and children’s hospital visits.

Founding McDougle Ministries

Driven by a profound belief in the power of faith and the importance of community support, Stockar founded McDougle Ministries in Buena Vista, Georgia. This faith-based organization, featuring a contemporary non-denominational church, is dedicated to uplifting and empowering individuals through the teachings of Christianity. The ministry is particularly focused on youth, recognizing their vital role in shaping the future, as underscored by the scripture, “Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

Vision for the Future

Today, McDougle Ministries is not just a place of worship but a vibrant community hub for education and personal development. The ministry also operates a Christian preschool, a K-12 school, and post-secondary education programs, all designed to provide nurturing spaces that foster personal growth, spiritual depth, and community leadership.

Stockar, alongside his high school sweetheart and wife, Octavia, and their five children, continues to inspire and lead McDougle Ministries with a mission to serve as a beacon of hope, faith, and community. Their vision is to cultivate a global community of faithful leaders empowered by Christ to transform their lives and the world around them, advancing a culture of hope, faith, and unconditional love.
